Last week, I went to the Arizona DMV to register my new car, transfer the title to my name, and get new plates. I was curious so I asked if military members receive any kind of discount. She said that title and registration costs are waived for military members that meet certain requirements.
For example, in Arizona, the qualifications for the free military registration are: “current/past member of the US Armed Forces regular component, reserve component or National Guard, and that served on active military duty outside of Arizona in support of a worldwide contingency operation of the US Armed forces.”
Also related, military service allows you to be exempt from registration fees for up to 2 cars every year.
You can find out more by clicking HERE at the DMV website
You can download a PDF version of the form by clicking HERE. You just need a signature from your Commanding Officer or Staff Judge Advocate. THEY ARE VERY STRICT ABOUT HAVING THIS FORM FILLED OUT.
This form is specific to Arizona. However, I believe most other states have similar programs for military members.
If you know the specifics or a certain state feel free to comment on the comment section below and I’ll update the post after.
So the next time you have to do your yearly registration or if you just bought a new car use your military benefits and SAVE!
