GREAT NEWS!
As of Dec 20, 2013 members of military are offered a chance to skip the security line in airports and use the TSA Precheck Expedite Screening line instead, avoiding long, messy security lines!
What does this entail?
Most importantly, a much shorter line. Also, no need to remove shoes, jackets, belts, laptops or liquids when passing through security.
How to participate?
Some large airports will accept a CAC card for now (listed HERE). Otherwise, passengers on Alaskan Airlines, American Airlines, Delta, Hawaiian Air, Jet Blue, Southwest, United, US Airways and Virgin America can have the TSA Precheck indicator printed on their boarding pass. Simply enter your DOD number under the “Known Travel Number” field when booking your flight. It will look something like this –
or like this –
and your boarding pass will print out looking something like this –
Only children under 12 or the elderly over 75 are allowed through precheck with the military member. Otherwise a precheck logo must be present on all boarding passes.
Military members do NOT need to be in uniform or on military orders to participate.
